Brigette’s career in performance dogs started well into childhood. She grew up raising show dogs with her mother at the young age of 11 years old. Throughout her years as a junior handler and on to adulthood as a professional handler for AKC; Brigette has titled several breeds of dogs through performance and conformation titles. These AKC events included Agility, Obedience, Rally-O, as well conformation Champion and Grand Champion titles. Throughout her AKC career, she would also go on to earn the honorable title of AKC Breeder of Merit for her breeding program in Standard Schnauzers.
After a short break from the dog show world, Brigette went on to look for a new challenge. Having always aspired to the level of control and precision of the protection sport handlers, Brigette found new fuel to light her passion in the performance dog world. She quickly immersed herself in education from some the most respected trainers in the industry such as Michael Ellis, Jerry Bradshaw, STSK9 Shawn Edwards, and Dave Kroyer. With a belief that only the best education will do, she went to earn training certifications in such programs as: In-Person Decoy Certification with Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers, Certified Ranked Decoy with Shawn Edwards, Leerburg Certification with Michael Ellis in Principles of Dog training 1, Focused Heeling, Teaching Protection Skills Without a Decoy, and The Foundation of Puppy Bite work. She also has earned several certifications with Nino Dowart of STSK9 in Puppy University 1 and 2, Drive and Focus, The Out, and E-Collar University. She is currently enrolled and nearing completion with STSK9 for certifications in Heeling styles, Positive Only, and the coveted Master Path Program (MVP) certification. She also continues to invest yearly in participating in several protection sport and decoy seminars from across the country for the most updated knowledge in the industry. Despite this long list of education to her tool belt, Brigette says she is far from done and only getting started! She has eyes on being a pivotal force in PSA for the West Coast and the leading trainer in Northern Nevada. With an eye for detail and a perfectionist attitude, Brigette will help you achieve your dreams in owning and training a high caliber dog through Battle Born Performance Canine. I have two passions in life. Dogs and physical fitness. I have been training dogs professionally for the past 15 years. I started off working at a horse boarding facility as a young adolescent where I worked with primarily horses, but also dogs. When I was old enough to move out on my own I started training dogs out of my home while also maintaining a regular full time job. In 2005 I started training full time at Northern Nevada’s largest dog training facility. Working at this kennel for the last 13 years has given me the opportunity to work with thousands of dogs. I have done everything from service dog work, behavioral modification, puppy development, personal protection, basic obedience, and just about everything in between. It is through this experience/exposure that I discovered my true love in the dog training world - personal protection training. Personal protection took my two greatest passions of physical fitness and dogs and combined them together. I am currently working on becoming a PSA certified decoy and will be pursuing a police decoy certification in the future. I am committed to continuing my education to be the best decoy I can be!
